One morning during our stay in Quito, our guide Andres came by our hotel to pick us up at the crack of dawn so that we could hit the road to Baños de Agua Santa (Baños for short), some three hours away.
As we made our way out of the city, Andres unexpectedly pulled over on the side of the highway so that we could climb the overpass stairs and watch the sunrise. The air was cold, the city was quiet, and the light was magical.
Andres made a few more stops along the way as we headed to the outskirts of Quito so that we could continue to enjoy the sunrise from different vantage points. I’ve always heard that sunrise is one of the best times for photos, so I was thrilled for the opportunity to snap away.
Enamored with the light, I decided that whenever possible, I’d like to make a point of capturing images of the sunrise in other destinations.
It’s a morning I won’t soon forget.
