Over this past Christmas/New Year holiday, Jave and I spent a week in his hometown of Negril followed by a week road tripping around the island. More
Now that Jave and I are safely back home following our two week trip to Jamaica which included a weeklong road trip around the island, I can confidently say that it was one of the best travel experiences of my life. You see, I’ve been traveling to Jamaica since 2006 when I first went with friends to celebrate my 26th birthday. After meeting Jave on our last day in Jamaica and getting to know him better through frequent phone conversations once I was back home, I started making return visits – usually two or so times a year until we got married and Jave immigrated to the U.S. a year thereafter. Welcome to 2016 – I hope you had an amazing holiday! Jave and I returned from Jamaica late last week where we spent a week at home in Westmoreland for Christmas before heading off for a weeklong road trip around the island. Someday, I hope to be able to put my thoughts about how I really feel about going home to Jamaica into words. Earlier this year, I launched my premier product, Time Card Express. Since then, business-wise, things have been a whirlwind, especially as I’m getting ready to launch another resource that’ll help people learn how to travel affordably without sacrificing luxury. While I love connecting with other travel bloggers here on the blog, through my business, I get so much joy from connecting with everyday travelers who are eager to discover ways to incorporate more travel into their lives without breaking the bank. Ultimately, I think that’s a desire we can all relate to – right? More
Although I keep a running tab on the number of countries I’ve been to, it’s not really something I lend much credit to in terms of defining myself as “well-traveled.” I often recount the story of a trip I took abroad with a college mate who gloated over the pages of her nearly full passport while rattling off all the countries she’d been to. As I listened, I thought, So what? What good is it to go to all of these countries if doing so isn’t somehow making you a better person or inspiring you to make a difference in the world?
